How can I improve my speed in long distance?

Hi I'm 13 and I am 4'8 and weigh about 87lbs. I run about 12miles a week out workout daily. I guess I could say I'm fairly healthy. Anyways I was wondering how I could get my long distance time fast. (About 3.5miles) Is what I want to be training for. But I also run the 1600 and 3000 during track. So I just need to see how to make myself fast in long distance. Thx

Just run like 2-3 miles every day and stretch everyday. Also do some core workputs(ab workouts).

Source(s): Take it from a person that can run a 12:36 3200m(about 2 miles). I run Track and Cross Country.

Keep practicing long distance runs to be agile but if want to gain some speed try sprinting medium distances. The other best exercise is jump rope and it will help you tons.

    Source(s): Make sure you stretch
