Is Atheism a Blessing or a Curse?

I would like to call every ones attention to the following article:

http://jeffjudaism.blogspot.com/2013/06/atheism-bl...

It is a challenge to BOTH theists and atheists. I would like to see some intellectual comments on this in the attitude of respect and peace. Thanks!

I am thankful for atheism. It has definitely strengthened my faith in God.

I actually have no belief and I do not feel I need to replace anything. I accept that as humans we seem to have some sort of spiritual need (different to wonder and awe), but I merely see it as a genetic answer to keep intelligent and self aware animals socially glued together. We all seek to have one believable point of view on life in order to co-exist and cooperate peacefully. Maybe we are beginning to transcend this need and can begin to acknowledge and accept that we have the possibility of all having different 'spiritual needs' so long as we keep basic common sense rules for living in a diverse community.

Free thinking, unfettered by unfounded superstitions, must be encouraged to enable us to find new solutions to all the pressing problems, old and new.

I do not feel yet another ideology however atheistic will help. Many atheists despise organised clubs.

Atheism means nothing more than a non-belief in god.

So, by definition, it is neither a blessing nor a curse. It is just a person's assessment of what's real in the world.

"Modern" Kabbalah has, it seems to me, been co-opted into New Age gibberish. And besides, no atheist is going to embrace it because it is still about "god".

    "Gospel of disbelief"

I tried, but you made it too hard to respect you.

"Most of the atheists are quite angry"

...because the atheists YOU know of are the ones making it clear they're atheists via their discontent.

"They perceive religion in any form to be the ultimate evil"

No, that's anti theists. It does not follow that a person who themselves does not believe in any gods, is against anyone who does.

    Oh, why do I bother.

    It is neither!

If it is a blessing - who is it from?

If it is a curse - who by?

It is a self-imposed delusion - they say I cannot see God, so God does not exists.

Paradise or hell each of us have a say as to which destination we end up in - freedom of choice!

Indeed, We have sent you, [O Muhammad], with the truth as a bringer of good tidings and a Warner, and you will not be asked about the companions of Hell fire. [Qur'an 2:119]

In the words of Adrian Monk: "It's a gift... and a curse."
