Can you sign a petition?

I know this is off topic..but I am working for a cause to put more electric vehicles on the road and TESLA is a company that created an electric vehicle and has gotten the best reviews for their cars.

You can visit teslamotors.com to see their cars.

More electric vehicles means less pollution and very good for our environment.

However these dealerships are fighting with this company to keep them from competing with them and in order to be heard from the White House, Tesla is collecting signatures on their petition.

We only need 50,000 more signatures by July 5th. If you can kindly sign the petition (takes less than 5 minutes) and send it to as many people as you can it would be great.

This petition is open to US residents only but I know some people living in Canada signed the petition by using a US Zip Code (example 11358), so if you can try it would be great!!

Here is the link

Thanks a Bunch...let us save our planet!!!

If you are working for Tesla and must mention their name I can understand your approach but this is not directly an electric car or a Tesla issue.

Car dealerships in a number of states are protected by laws requiring manufacturers to distribute their cars through the independent dealer network. Tesla wants to cut out the middleman and sell their cars directly to consumers.

When all cars are essentially the same this system works to give a equal viewing for many cars while providing some cost saving for setting up dealerships.

But it also legally creates a monopoly and may in fact represent a restraint of trade where the vehicle being sold is very different. Sales personal don't particularly care what car they sell. When they are more familiar with petrol cars they will probably tend to sell those and electrics will sit in some back corner of the lot. Tesla is right to set up there own dealership network.

I would say the issue is more about protectionism than electric cars. If approached this way it may give you a wider audience. For an analysis of all the arguments look here: http://truthonthemarket.com/2013/06/24/tesla-and-t...

Actually, you are wrong on so many counts it is almost laughable.

    Just one for example . . .

"More electric vehicles means less pollution . . ."

Where the heck did you ever get that information from?

Where is the electricity going to come from to power your car?

How many more coal plants will we have to build to keep your electric car charged?

Theses cars are NOT powered by Unicorn tears fella. It take power generation to make them go and THAT is not cheap. Right now Germany is burning Peat-moss to run its generators. Any idea how polluting THAT is? China is worse than Los Angeles and India has rivers of death.

Second, how do you think theses "green cars" are made? DO you think we grow them in the grain fields of Nebraska? They are made form parts built all over the world from some of the most toxic materials known to man. You will not be able to take these cars to the "wrecking yard" because of the heavy metals in them. You are going to have to take them to bio-hazard clean up centers and pay more for the disposal then you did for the car.

I agree with you that we need better transportation but you suckered us in with CFLs that are piling up in our homes because they are so toxic you can't throw them away and more recycling centers will not take them because they are not licensed for the Mercury.

Don't make the same mistake twice. WE have to pick up after you you know.
