Does Everyone Have Freedom Of Speech In America?

If we do, why is Paula Dean under fire for something she said 30 years ago?

Well the way thing are going I wonder that myself.

As for Paula Deen I think someone is just picking on her and wants money.

Oh but it's alright for other "B" celebrities and that include sports celebrities etc to use the "N" word BUT is it okay for the "B" to call the Whites-->White Trash? I don't see them getting in the MEDIA!

I really think they are blowing this out of proportion and I hope Food Network goes down too, besides they don't have any other chefs that are good anymore beside Sandra Lee, hopefully Paul will go to the Cooking channel, all we can do is support her..someone is lying here.

I love the gal but I'll have to admit she does use a lot of butter! LOL

She is under fire because too many people think that they need to be politically correct.

We have all said things in the past that were OK then but not so now. Check out the audio at the murder trial going on (in the news).

I say things that aren't necessarily worded as they should and the newspapers catch that. But I said it and that is that.

Kind of depends on who you are! A lot of people said things we needed to hear, and were silenced by methods, from discrediting to death. That's damned sure NOT free speech!!! Edward Snowden, Daniel Ellsberg, Karen Silkwood, Jullian Asange, Gary Webb, have all been denied freedom of speech. Some died, some disappeared, some were simply "silenced". The list is endless. I guess a radical rapper's tirade is more protected, than those that warn us of excesses by our government.

Paula Deen is a successful/wealthy southern white woman and the Good Ole' Boys Society just hate that so they want to bring her down a notch or two.

I know what you mean, people are making a big deal out of nothing, it was just a word and they are acting like it's the end of the world. No, I don't think there is real freedom of speech. Sure you can choose your own life path and make your own decisions but the second you say something people don't agree with you are attacked

Its all media oriented. Paula Dean is a good person, and over time, this will all blow over like everything else.

It seems we have freedom of speech as long as (heaven forbid) we don't insult anyone, or criticize the powers that be. The whole Paula Dean thing is ridiculous. I, for one, couldn't care less about what she said 30 years ago or yesterday.

The media is just low on "celebrities who haven't been cooked yet." People are tired of Beyonce KardasheonBieberMileyCyrusMariahCareyTaylorSwiftetc. Let's go after the older rich gal and kick her back down into the dump.

She has freedom of speech - everyone does - but she does not have the right to be free of criticism nor does she have entitlement to her various ventures. It is a sponsor's right, good or bad, to dismiss someone for not towing the company line, for lack of a better way of putting it.
