Christians: would you give a fool a helping hand , please?
If I accept Jesus as my Lord and SavioUr, then I get everlasting life, right?
John 5:24
"Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life."
But...
What if I am a goat?
Matthew 25:31-46
31 “When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, he will sit on his glorious throne. 32 All the nations will be gathered before him, and he will separate the people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. 33 He will put the sheep on his right and the goats on his left.
34 “Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. 35 For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, 36 I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’
37 “Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? 38 When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? 39 When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’
40 “The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’
41 “Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. 42 For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, 43 I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.’
44 “They also will answer, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?’
45 “He will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.’
46 “Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life.”
And what if I am a tare?
Matthew 13:24-30
24 Another parable He put forth to them, saying: “The kingdom of heaven is like a man who sowed good seed in his field; 25 but while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat and went his way. 26 But when the grain had sprouted and produced a crop, then the tares also appeared. 27 So the servants of the owner came and said to him, ‘Sir, did you not sow good seed in your field? How then does it have tares?’ 28 He said to them, ‘An enemy has done this.’ The servants said to him, ‘Do you want us then to go and gather them up?’ 29 But he said, ‘No, lest while you gather up the tares you also uproot the wheat with them. 30 Let both grow together until the harvest, and at the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, “First gather together the tares and bind them in bundles to burn them, but gather the wheat into my barn.”
"I concur that your self-description is an apt one, neighbor." Somehow, (being a fool maybe) I cannot construe that as being an answer to my question...neighbour. However, if you are calling me a fool, I shall take that badge gladly because after all...a fool thinks he is a wise man, but a wise man knows he is a fool...

Let's start with being a goat.
That is speaking of a final judgment, one that leads to life or death. Until that judgment comes, all have the ability to take their stand on the issues presented by Jesus. Does he require that you do it ALL your life in order to receive the title "sheep"?
Look at this illustration:
(Matthew 20:1-7) 20 “For the kingdom of the heavens is like a man, a householder, who went out early in the morning to hire workers for his vineyard. 2 When he had agreed with the workers for a de·nar′i·us a day, he sent them forth into his vineyard. 3 Going out also about the third hour, he saw others standing unemployed in the marketplace; 4 and to those he said, ‘YOU also, go into the vineyard, and whatever is just I will give YOU.’ 5 So off they went. Again he went out about the sixth and the ninth hour and did likewise. 6 Finally, about the eleventh hour he went out and found others standing, and he said to them, ‘Why have YOU been standing here all day unemployed?’ 7 They said to him, ‘Because nobody has hired us.’ He said to them, ‘YOU too go into the vineyard.’
The account goes on to say that he pays all the hired workers the same wage, whether they started early in morning, or for the last hour.
It is clear then that UNTIL that sitting down for separating work, we all have choices, so if you want to, you have the chance to gain everlasting life.
The tares though are a different situation. This was not about individuals, but types of people. One, the wheat, is what Christ plants and plans on harvesting. The tares are the seeding work of the Devil, designed to be worthless. They can never change their status. A wheat is always a wheat, a tare a tare.
To sum it up, the opening verse that you quoted is still an option for you. Any "fool" can make a good choice now and then. The best place to start is studying what the Bible teaches. From there, then you can decide whether you are going to work for the owner of the "vineyard" or not.

If you accept Jesus as your Lord and SavioUr, then you get everlasting life, right?, WRONG!!!.
You seem to know what you must do to be given everlasting life, but the question is have you done them? Did you do the things Jesus asked you to do?
"For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.
Then the righteous will answer him, Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink?
When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?
The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me."
The Rich man did none of these things for Lazarus, and the Rich man suffered the fate of the Goats and Tares.
A Wise man not only knows the words Jesus spoke a wise man does exactly as the words Jesus spoke tell him to do, because the WORDS are the foundation, they are the ROCK.
Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: Matt 7:24 (KJV).

A true "goat" would never convert in the first place. There are a few wolves dressed as sheep in the churches, as I'm sure you realise.
You know in your heart whether you're a sheep or a goat, a tare or a grain of wheat. That's unless you're so thoroughly self-decieved that you've convinced yourself that God is a fool who can be fooled.

What if you are a tare?
become wheat. you can if you so choose.
You have the power of choice to be what or which ever you desire.
Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved.
do not be of your father the devil for he is liar from the beginning.
Now go out get a King James Bible and learn what is on the map to get you to being a wheat with 100 grains of wheat per ear.

I have a saying,
Only one life 'twill soon be past,
Only what's done for Christ will last
no good works can get you into his kingdom, if that would work, Jesus would not have had to sacrifice his life for you
Once he lives in you then he will work through you

Seems you answered your own question, don't be a goat or a tare. Repent, be baptized for the remission of sins, and go forth and sin no more.

Nope. Where does it say we accept Him. He came to seek and save that which was lost. You're lost.
. . . For by grace are we saved through faith, this is not of ourselves, it's the gift of God. Not by works so that no man may boast. Eph2:8-9

Matthew 7:21 “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.
