Connecting laptop to TV via hdmi help please?

Trying to connect my acer E1-571 laptop to my LG TV via an HDMI cable but it won't work. Cable is definitely working as I checked with my ps3. It's on the right HDMI output on the tv but it just will not work. Laptop runs windows 8 for any directions anyone can give me thanks

    I wish i knew more information but have you made sure the HDMI is turned on in the Laptop? usually has 3 modes just laptop screen, both HDMI and laptop, or just HDMI. If you need a new cable with audio and internet i find all mine at www.cableforge.com
