What kind of university is UC Berkeley?
Can someone who went to Berkeley as a student or works there tell me what the general atmosphere of the campus is. As well as tell me how rigorous is the curriculum.

It's a public, state research university. It's not as rigorous as Stanford or Yale, but you're not going to get off the hook like you would at a community college. What is the atmosphere like? Well Berkeley (the city, and the school too, actually) is notorious for being one of the most liberal cities in America. It isn't exactly a party school. It's a very large university, and has a very large student body. Berkeley tries to act as though it's an athletic school, but in reality, they're programs are terrible - in the sense that they hardly ever make it to championships (look how bad their football program is now).
You'll be in good hands though, don't worry.
