What is the importance of our sinuses?

I was just wondering because my sinuses are clogged up and giving me a headache. I'm talking about the ones just above your eyebrows and the ones around the nose.

    1) provides a resonant cavity for sound -- amplifies the sound generated by your vocal cords.

    2) wet filter for air going to the lungs -- wet mucus on walls helps humidify the air so that the hairs can captures some of the dust and other particulate contaminants to help filter the air before it hits your lungs (to prevent choking.)

    3) if there is a sufficient quantity of allergens in the air, the sinuses swell to fill the cavities to prevent contaminated air from infiltrating those cavities closest to your brain.

    4) provide air cooled thermo-regulation mechanism for your eyes, optic nerves, smell and taste facilities, and your brain. (see 3)

    5) provides additional air cavities that can be used to help air pressure regulation in and around the head area.
