  • How many page views before a blog can make a little bit of money?

I'd just like to make it clear that I am not looking to make a living off of blogging. It's something that I do for fun and I was just wondering if I could make it a little bit of extra money off of it.

A nice amount (in my opinion) would be around $100 in a year.

If I wanted to make around $100 in a year, about how many page views would I need per day/month/year? Also, is page views the number I should look at or is visits/something else better?

BQ: Plus, if you have any experience at all with this, do you recommend Google Adsense if I'm just trying to make some spending money?

    Thanks in advance!

  • Anybody here play the harmonica?

I was thinking about getting a harmonica (the ones I've looked at are relatively cheap). I'm not planning on becoming an expert, but I would like to learn a few basic songs. My question is how hard is it to learn (especially if I don't take any classes)? Also, I can't whistle at all, so I was wondering if this could be an indicator that I will suck at the harmonica.

    Thanks in advance.

  • How to find the phase shift given a coordinate (sinusoidal function)?

In the equation y = sin(x - p), i need to find p given the coordinate (pi/6 , 0). I know to sub in the x and y, i'm just not sure how to solve for p. Do i expand the bracket or something? Thanks for your time.

CO2 and H2O are the products of a *complete* combustion, but will you still get carbon dioxide and water, plus other stuff in an incomplete reaction?

  • Help with a chemistry homework question?

    The question states:

"Suppose you see a video where someone adds sodium nitrate to tap water and a precipitate forms. The person then concludes that the water contains lead. Why is the student wrong?"

I have an idea of how to go about it but am still confused. Your help is greatly appreciated!

  • Is Na3P ionic or molecular?

Everywhere I look it is called sodium phosphide (ionic naming) but its electro negativity difference indicates that it is a molecular compound. Which compound is it and how should I name it?

  • Is GoAnimate free (and is it good)?

My understanding is that your first two minute video is free but is there any way to get some more without having to pay?

Also, will I be able to download the video onto a USB or something because I need to hand it in to my teacher for a class project.

  • What does it mean when people say "(blank) can't send information at the speed of light"?

In regards to particles that some think could travel faster than light like tachyons or neutrinos, people will say "yes, but it can't send information faster than light so the laws of special relativity hold". What does this mean?

  • Help with exponential decay?

    So here is the decay formula: y = a(1 - r)^x

I have a question about the initial amount "a". If the question is talking about something starting with 500 units of something, should i use 500 as initial amount or 100 (to represent 100% of the initial amount)?

For example, there's a question where sunlight intensity is 500 units at surface but 40 units at a depth of 2 meters I'm trying to find the rate so i was going to set it up as:

    40 = 500 (1 - r)^2

Is this wrong? Thanks for your time.

  • Help setting up an equation for exponential decay?

    The question is:

An industrial filter removes 90% of the particulate matter from the exhaust gases of a furnace. How many filters must the gas pass through in order to remove 99.9% of the particulate matter before releasing the gases?

    I think it is 0.01 = 100(0.1)^x but I'm not sure

  • Clarification on whether electrons are "real"?

This seems like a stupid question but i was reading "Surely You're Joking Mr. Feynman" last night and in telling one of his stories, he says "The electron is a theory we use; it is so useful in understanding the way nature works that we can almost call it real."

Can someone help me understand what he meant by this? Thanks for your time.

  • Is there any kind of incident or force that would accelerate/decelerate the earth?

The earth is travelling fast through space right now but it's velocity is undetectable to us because it's in constant motion. Is there anything that could happen that would allow everyone on earth to "feel" it's acceleration? (kind of like how when you put on the brakes in the car, everything goes flying forwards)

    Thanks for your time.

  • Have there been any advancements made experimentally on string theory?

I know very, very little about string theory itself, but from what I hear, it's a really abstract theory that sounds great, but hasn't made any verifiable predictions. Has anything happened lately or are there any plans with the LHC?

BQ: Do you think theories along the lines of string theory (in that they don't seem to be tangible) are "legit"? It just feels like such a weird, and kind of irresponsible way of doing science in my opinion.

  • Question on the speed of light and special relativity?

Okay, here is one thing that I don't get about special relativity (or how it has been presented to me): supposedly, time "stops" once you reach the speed of light. My understanding is that if you are travelling at the speed of light and travel one light year of distance, no time will have passed. But it takes light, which travels at the speed of light, one year to travel a light year. I'm obviously missing something and feel stupid, so hopefully somebody can clarify this for me.
