Find the "roots" of angle theta?

I'm given the equation sin (theta) = 0.5 and have to "find three different roots for theta. What do they even mean by roots?

You're not looking for roots "of" Θ. You're looking for numbers Θ that would be roots "of the equation." This is just a fancy way of saying "solutions."

For example, π/6 is a root of this equation because

    sin(π/6) = 0.5.

That's 30° if you're working in degrees. There are infinitely many solutions, you just need to find 2 more.

Calling solutions of an equation such as this "roots" is commonly accepted. So it's good to learn this terminology.

Roots are values that make a statement or equation true.

    So sin(theta)=1/2

    So theta= (-11π/6, -7π/6, π/6, 5π/6, and π/6+-2nπ, 5π/6+-2nπ)
