yes because it shows he's most likely good with kids, passionate about the subject he's teaching, and also knowledgeable

yeah depends on other things... but not if there's a rule against it ie student /teacher situation.
Most of my favorite teachers were men, they tended to be smart kind men and I really don't think that was a coincidence.

Most women wouldn't (unless College Professor) because teachers are typically not paid very well.
