What do you need to open a checking account?

Drivers license only? SS card? Passport?

    You need money and an ID. Driver's license will work.

    Two forms of government issued ID

    Name

    Address

    Maybe employer information to prove you have a source of income to resupply your checking account with more money. Or some other proof of income.
