is a arabian a good english riding horse?
im going to adopt a 1 and a half year old arabian from the shelter. i want to compete in dressage, show jumping, and cross country. im 5'5 and im just a little worried the horse might grow up to be to small for me to do the competitions i want with him.
im adopting young because i want to have a bond with the horse from the very beginning of their life. im boarding the horse and paying for it to be trained there.
please feel free to add anything i should know about arabians

I used to know an Arabian at my barn. she was hotheaded (a lot of them are) but I loved her. she was such a sweetheart around me. so I love Arabians
adopting young is something I would choose to do too cx
and for jumping, the Arabian I knew can jump 3' and carry adult riders. she could do dressage if she was really trained
so yes, this horse could be a very nice horse for you.
just one question, how tall is it right now?

A woman at my barn is working with an Arabian for dressage, but not jumping. However, Arabians can jump, and some do compete in that category.
You're adopting a very young, untrained Arabian why? Do you have any particular experience in training horses? Do you have a dedicated, skilled trainer to help you with this horse? In the end, it's your decision, but I believe it would be better for you to buy an older, well-trained horse for competing.
