Is 25 too late to start going to college?

I will be 26 in a few months and I barely registered for my first college class. I have been in technical school before, I tried joining the military and my post high school years are a list of minimum wage jobs and failures. I decided I think I might want to major in English. Will future employers look at this huge gap between high school and college and become discouraged from hiring me? Any information or advice on starting secondary school at this late of an age would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

It's never too late! My Bio teacher went back to college when he was in his 40's to get another science degree and to become a teacher. (At the time he had his own electric company). The reason was because he was annoyed that some of his son's teachers didn't seem to care and claimed he could do a better job. His wife challenged him on it, so he became a teacher! And he was one of the best teachers I've had!

Choose your major wisely! Do something you love, but don't choose a major that won't help you get a job.

First off, Hoser umm Jose' is an idiot. That being said, English is a fine degree as long as you pour yourself into it. It will teach critical thinking skills and the ability to write in a thoughtful and complete manner. Pointless degree?...I think not. How many technical manuals have read that were written by a computer nerd without any writing skills. You know the ones, skipping around and totally confusing to the point where you have to call the 1-800 #. We've all been there and these manuals were NOT written by an English major. This is one small example, (i.e. technical writing). By the way the older you are when you return to school the more you enjoy it and realize how important and fun it actually is. Some advice: 1) Don't listen to Hoser, I mean Jose'. 2) Sit in the front of the class. 3) Hang out and make friends with the other smart students. 4) Always make it to class. 5) Do your own thinking. 6) Get a library card and use it tomorrow....

25 is still very young! It's never too late. I went to university (for a second degree) at age 30, and I have never regretted going back. And a few years of working in another capacity did not prevent me from later working in my chosen field. Seize the day! In another 5 years you could be working another dead end job or you could have some education and more possibilities ahead of you!

NO! It's never too late. Even if it takes you 19 years to graduate, a degree at 36 is better than no degree at all. My husband starts college for the first time next month, and he is almost 41

if you were only planning to live to 26 or 27 then yea I would say you are way to late. seeing how this is not the case It is never to late, I always see a lot of (OLDER MUCH WISER) group of people in my classes and they are the ones everyone seeks help from.

Just do your research and dont get scammed into classes and colleges and sink into debt.

They won't be discouraged from hiring you because of your age because you plan to pick a major that will monopolize all that discouragement.

It's not late, it's never too late. Trust me, when you do start class there'll be people in your classes that are way older than you. Nontraditional students if you will.
