Haiku - Japanese Temple. Will you cc?

An actual experience I had as a kid when I was living in Japan. I think it was a class field trip. A repost from April 2012.

Moss-covered stone steps

Lead to the ancient temple’s

Bright golden statues

A successful example of Haiku for many reasons.

    An underlying nod to Nature

with a rarely composed oriental theme.

A refined, atmospheric touch with the moss

covered steps tends to invite the reader to

imagine the surrounding landscape of gardens

    and water features.

Contrapuntal in the juxtaposition of ancient

stone with bright metal objects. This is an intriguing touch

    .

I can imagine bamboo wind chimes and easy flowing water

    over smooth stone.

A long answer for just 12 words, which illuminates well

the importance of deciding on the correct words, the links

    that create a single chain.

It's the suggestive and objective aspects

that compel this reader to say

    "Bravo" to you.

    A winning combination of elements

in creating a memorable, excellent Haiku, Carey.

    Carey Ball

You are one of the better Haiku poets I see here on YAP

You set up the premise in line one with good imagery and

carried it hom on the next two lines. Very well done.

Were this translated to Japanese, would it be ok?

It is the closest thing that English poetry can come to actual Haiku, you are well aware of the art and the culture
