It's not your fault—it's your BRAIN'S fault! It craves fat and salt and sugar and drives you to find them as quickly and as easily as possible. You are not to blame at all—biology and evolution are to blame.

Your brain weighs a small percentage of your body's total mass (or weight), yet it probably consumes more than 20% of all the calories you provide to your body, even when it's "resting". It drives you to crave something (that many corporations are happy to provide.) Your brain is about 60% fat—every single one of the billions of neurons (nerve cells) being covered with a thin, protective layer of the stuff. The brain is also in control of the rest of your body's cells, which have membranes that require a certain balance of fat to let enzymes and essential vitamins do their jobs properly.

Burgers are cooked, so their calories are more readily available and burgers are also ubiquitous (found almost anywhere) these days. They taste OK, as well, if you eat them quickly. ["Fast-food", anyone?]

If you have a good (balanced) diet, you can fight the cravings, but if you're going 'low-fat' or 'no-fat' then your brain will win...if not...erm...been nice knowing you! Cheers!

Firstly, most burger places use pre made patties with a smoke flavor in them. That "smell" is very enticing. Secondly, if you are missing red meat in your diet, which supplies iron and B vitamins and Hyaluronic Acid for your joints, you may be craving for those dietary components. Thirdly, a cheese burger is good for you without the bun. All those veggies and a grill fried burger (Char grilled burgers over eaten will load you with carcinogens, a cancer causing agent) supply you with very healthy protien, fats and essential micronutrients.

You may not like commericially made, fast food burgers because your body is still smart enough metabolically to recognize that it is JUNK food. Bodies conditioned to garbage food will eventually turn into "Crave Machines" for fast food because of its addictive nature. Its loaded with transfats, fats, salt, artificial flavorings and taste enhancing chemicals (Monosodium Glutamate is the WORST) and fillers. It tastes great because of that, but it is the same as a rat eating peanut butter flavored poison.

If your metabolism and taste are still unconditioned to processed and junk foods, count yourself blessed. Your body is saying "Make me a burger at home with some organic beef, fresh veggies and real cheese". Try it that way first and then try a fast food burger. Your taste buds will show you the difference between a burger that will hinder your health and one that will feed and satisfy your craving.

You may have an iron deficiency. When I was a kid I had some kind of blood disorder and I clearly remember absolutely craving hamburgers and it was because of the blood issue and low iron.
