Shave against or with the grain for bald head?
I've heard some conflicting views...so what's the "best practice"?

Depends on the person, if you have sensitive skin shave with the grain. If not then against will technically get a closer shave. Shaving against the grain can earn in-grown hairs or irritation bumps really easily for someone with sensitive skin.
Overall, shave it like you would your face. If you get red bumps and craziness when shaving face against the grain then I would obviously recommend that you don't go against the grain when shaving your head.

I personally prefer to shave against the grain...I find when I go with the grain I end up pulling hair out. I suppose it is up to you to determine which feels the best, or which less irritating or painful....test each way!
