Do you think anyone has changed their religion (or lack thereof) because of this site?

I see a lot of troll-like posts on here, Athiests vs Christians - I've got to wonder if either side really thinks they're swaying anyone. What say you, has it happened before? Is it even possible, and if so are the people in question the sort to change their outlook by reading the right fortune cookie?

I have definitely changed some of my viewpoints as a result of this site. People have posed questions that I couldn't honestly answer, and it led me to do further research. There are posters here who have made me reconsider my opinion on a number of different subjects. I've often said that if people think they can show me a better way, I'll at least listen. And I'm still listening.

I get posts from folks that indicate that I've given them something to chew on.

That's all one can ask, I think.

I get ideas here, and as more people pile on, it may be that the idea seems to get better, or it may seem to develop a lot of holes and fall apart. Interesting thoughts going on, on both sides of the questions.

The children are annoying and foolish, but they also are sharp and inquisitive and show a developing mind.

Do people change their religion? I don't care. What I hope for is that people think instead of just taking the stuff someone has fed them without challenging it. And, yes, this applies both to people of faith and people of no faith.

  • Trolling is fun and despite wanting to find answers that make me legitimately want to concede to belief in a deity, I have found none. Every argument put forth by theists has been the same rehashed horsedung that's been refuted to hell and back (pardon the expression).

I mostly spend my time here, when I'm not trolling, giving opinions to those that may be on the fence with their beliefs.

Look at all the terrible threats, hatred, bigotry, homophobia and persecution posted by Christians on here! Of course people are leaving the churches rather than be associated with them!

England's Archbishop of Canterbury last week stated Christians are now known for their hatred and not the loving god!

All I say is they should Question the Bible taking into consideration that it was written in a time when Superstitions and Myths were in Abundance and they believed in Flying Witches, Sea Monsters and the Earth was Flat

No I doubt anyone's any of their beliefs it is just to nasty. That is not the way you change someone it is however a good way to make people dig their heels in further. People just come on because they are bored and want to entertain themselves.

  • Actually i've been a nonbeliever since I was 5. (Yes I knew god wasn't real at that age)

I had to keep lying to myself out of fear of going to hell. Atheist concepts helped pull me out of the silly religion stuff.

Probably not. People are only listening to themselves in R&S. Askers tend to be looking for and selecting best answers that keep them in status quo.

    I did!

If you want to know my story, it basically goes like this:

    >be me. Christian.

    >Come to R&S

    >Ask a question about Jesus

    >Get trolled

    >Be pissed

    >Ask a question to mock Atheists

    >Get trolled again

    >Goto troll atheists in R&S

    >Goto troll everyone in R&S

    >trollface.png

    >Goto troll religion in R&S

    >Goto troll christians in R&S

    >successful atheist is successful.

I have become more tolerant because of this website. I have gained a lot of evidence and support from other websites to that love is the way to heaven. Even atheist live in love. : )
