A question for Muslims?

Do you find it offensive if a non-Muslim person says things like inshallah, mashallah, or 'peace be upon him' to you during polite conversation? I encounter a lot of Muslims in my daily life (people I don't know personally) and I like to use a bit of their phrases sometimes as a friendly gesture. I always research the phrases first, and I only use them with sincerity and in the right context, but I'm not sure how that's viewed from Islam's perspective?

Salam, I doubt any Muslim would take offence if it is said with sincerity! I think its nice and polite that you would make the effort to do so. Mashallah! =)

No - there are some words that are purely Arabic as a language.

If a non-Muslim greet a Muslim with Salaam, it cannot be seen as offensive because there is a reply for that too - to a non-Muslim.

Oh it actually makes me happy. I have a non-Muslim friend who sometimes makes jokes like this and they are funny. For example yesterday when he was entering the car, he said "Allahu Akbar" because he hears me say it everytime I enter the car. And it gave me a good chuckle.

Haha that's cute. No, there's nothing wrong with using those phrases. Allah means "god" in Arabic and Arab Christian use it too.
