Security Issue? Think I have a Virus... Can anyone help?

Ill be browsing the internet (I use Chrome), when an alert message pops up that is written in broken English saying

"The page from experimentsa.com says:

"WARNING!!!

Your Java Version is outdated, have Security Risks.

Please Update Now!"

The only button is the red X in the corner of the window and then an OK button. But Im not that stupid, I ain't hitting that OK button. So I open Task Manager and end the processes for Chrome. This closes it and then I continue browsing.

Ive scanned my computer with MBAM and Microsoft Security Essentials, as well as my the program folder for chrome which I scanned separately and nothing was found. The pop up keeps appearing. I hit the X button on the window and it redirected me to the page " experimentsa.com" and I ended the processes for chrome again before it finished loading.

I tried Googling this problem, but only got one result and it was unhelpful.

Does anyone have any advice?

Update:

It says this page from Experimentsa.com, but i am never on that url, its the url it tries to take me to. So I do avoid that page haha

and I know my java is up to date, I checked, and because its using bad english and only gives the one option it makes it a bit obvious that it is not real.. It appears at random, not on specific pages nor when im opening the browser.

Update 2:

Its also not an extention causing it because i only have the one and its not even enabled because its for my mouse which isnt attached. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling, waiting to see if it appears again

    See this page: http://www.java.com/en/download/help/appsecuritydi...

I conclude that what is happening is caused by MALWARE on your computer.

The same exact thing is happening on my computer. I'm getting the same message, except that the message on my computer starts out "The page at simsf.com says:" Like you, I have never been to simsf.com, and apparently that isn't even a real, active web site. I also doubt that Experimentsa.com is a real web site.

I don't know how to get rid of this. I've run some malware remover programs, but apparently it hasn't worked.

When it happens, I don't click on either the "X" or the "OK" button on the warning. Instead I open Windows Task Manager to the Applications folder and use the "End Task" button to close my web browser (I've been using Google Chrome).

I think this has been happening only when I've been using Google Chrome. Maybe that is a factor.

It could be a browser hijack.

http://www.safer-networking.org/private/details/#F... - spybot Search and Destroy

    http://www.brightfort.com/spywareblaster.html - Spywareblaster

Download, install, update and run these in Safe Mode. To get into Safe Mode, restart your pc and repeatedly press F8 as it restarts. Some malware consists of 2 files and one will re-instate the other if it is removed. Safe Mode stops this.

    Sandboxie

    http://www.sandboxie.com/index.php?DownloadSandbox... - Sandboxie

A sandbox creates a virtual partition on your hard drive and ghosts your os on to it. Nothing in the

sandbox can move outside of the partition unless you want it to. Sandboxie will give you a desktop

icon for a sandboxed web browser that looks like a slice of pizza. Double click that and your browser will open. Close the browser and everything is deleted. This is the safest surfing can get!

Try doing a 'System Restore' in 'Safe Mode' by tapping F8 as the computer is starting up.

Then go back to a time well before this problem started. It won't affect any personal files/folders - just System files.

I'm assuming you're not using Windows 8 as the F8 trick doesn't work on that.

If the pop-up is appearing only on a few sites, then it is the site(s) fault.

If it appears on EVERY site, or every time you start Chrome, then chances are you do have an issue.

However, the part of the pop-up saying "The page from experimentsa.com says:" tells us that it IS a particular site causing the issue.

I tried going to the site "experimentsa.com", and I also get the issue there. As long as you can avoid this site, then you should be able to avoid the issue.

Java as well as other programs are legit and need to be updated. You either need to update it or you need to get rid of it altogether, which in essence will effect your overall internet experience.

The other reason why you got it is because everybody else who uses Java got it, including me. If you don't update it then you open the way for security risks.

Yes, there is always the possibility of getting a fake or spoofed message but that's not as common as you would think. If you get a virus then you simply take the measures you would normally take to get rid of it is all. You're good. Do you updates accordingly. Also, check the dates on the certificates if you're that concerned. Make sure they're not old and up to date. Not sure if you know how to check that though.

    Sounds like a browser hijacker.

You can uninstall/ reinstall chrome yeah..but make sure it isn't happening on other browsers.

Google it and there are some other fixes if it still happens.

It happened to me once and took me a bit to fix it.

That's a spoof. Get Malwarebytes (see below and it's free). Install, update and run a complete scan (best in safe mode). That should get rid of it. I'd install a better antivirus then SE (it sucks). Free ones are Avira, AVG & Avast. Each one will turn off SE automatically. Then run an AV scan.

ignore approximately pop-ups , or get anti-pop-up secure practices from Norton or the internet protection of your decision. you will get lots greater useful overall performance of pc and private time devoid of pop-united statesin your life. yet another element to ignore approximately is undesirable e-merchandising, except, like me, you get a kick out assisting to place a spammer in the slammer. you may make preparations to forward your unsolicited mail to a service that looks after that.
