Is 36-30-38 considered an hourglass shape?

I wanted to know if 36C bust, 30 inch waist and 38 inch hips equal an hourglass shape. I'm 5' 6.5", 17 and 209lbs (I know I weigh too much but I'm working on it. :) ), I've been told that I do have an hourglass shape by lots of people but I wasn't exactly sure if I do. When I was around 150-175lbs I was told that it showed a lot and that was when I was like a size 8 - size 12.

So I wanted to know If I was an hourglass shape. I If I lose weight and get to like 150-160 again will I still have an hourglass shape?

Update:

I forgot to mention. I have some fat on my waist, but If I lose weight can that change the inches on my waist to a smaller size? Oh yeah and I gain more weight in my chest and hips more than my stomach.

Update 2:

Oops I meant that my bust circumference is 36 inches. I didn't know what to call it so I just said bust, but yeah my bust circumference is 36 inches. I don't look like an apple though.

Update 3:

Oh yeah, I just looked at my body in the mirror now. My waist is the smallest part of my body compared to my chest and legs, and I looked at pictures of people with a rectangle shaped body and their body didn't have their waist sucked it. It was bulging and pretty close to the same size as their hips and chest so I don't think I'm a rectangle shaped person either. Oh yeah, my shoulders are wide.

    Usually it's a waist-to-hip ratio of 0.7 or less. You're at 0.78.

For reference, Sofia Vergara and Marilyn Monroe are natural hourglasses. Their waists are VERY small compared to their bust/hips.

I think you're more pear-shaped since you're lower body is bigger than the upper body. It's hard to get the bust and hips exactly the same, but hourglasses usually have the same bust and hip give or take an inch or less than an inch. Pear shapes also have small waists.

Also, it IS possible for rectangles to have waists smaller than their bust and hips, it's just not as defined. An hourglass would be more extreme.

You gave your bra size not your bust circumference. The shape might be rectangular or apple. Hourglass is ten inches difference with bust and waist equal. You'd know best. Look at your image, front, side and back. If your waist is clearly defined, its shapely. If you hold a yardstick along the side and barely see an indentation for the waist, it's rectangular. If the ruler moves outward, pear. If the front bulges, apple. If you'd like an unbiased evaluation, submit pictures or ask a salesperson at a better department store.

Close but not quite, to be an hour glass your waist has to be 10 inches smaller and your bust and hips around the same size. You're close but not quite curvy enough. I wouldn't feel too bad about being a bit heavy, your measurements aren't big at all.

Another term for this is "six o'clock" and it simply means you have no curves and are straight up and down. I was overly thin at one time, and I got called this constantly by my then husband. Perhaps it is your insecurity about your figure and weight that makes you "unattractive" not your body shape, because supposedly "thick" is in. Work on the inside while you work on the outside and you will be beautiful no matter what!
