As a cook/chef, would you say there is a different experience when you COMBINE food items or MIX them?

So, i was watching a cook make breakfast tacos. He had tacos in which he layered beans and eggs on a flour tortilla. He said it would be easier to simply cook them together and serve them as a single item rather than add them separately. I said mixing them first and cooking them together creates a NEW experience (new flavor) as opposed to adding them separately prior to serving. What do you think? Does mixing food ingredients create new flavors versus just combining the same ingredients?

when making things like tacos or burritos it doesn't matter a bit if you layer, combine, or whatever. You never see the contents in the tortillas.

I like layering taco stuff into the soft corn tortillas. Looks better on the plates. as for the crisp taco shells, I hate them!!

No, mixing food ingredients does not change the flavor, it merely makes a nasty looking mess on the plate when you pull the tortilla or other wrap off it. Yes, it is faster to combine everything then spoon it onto the tortilla or wrap, and you can put out many more plates of the stuff faster. That is all!

If you were to break the eggs into the taco mix it could make a huge differnce about what you then do.

It you were to remove it form the heat and let the eggs set you would still get the egg taste in the taco when seved. If stirred in and continue to stir you may loose the taste of the egg over all the other flavours
