Spirit Airlines, Pros and Cons?
I know it's cheap and they charge for everything. I'm asking about if you have flown with them before, what's your experience.
I'm not stupid, so don't state the obvious.

I've flown with Spirit Airlines several times before, once in a "Big Front Seat". Well, what can you say? They are one of the few ultra low-cost carriers in the United States, but you'll find nearly everything with a price tag. Basically, if you don't care about the journey and just want to get from point A to point B, Spirit Airlines is just for you. If you're seeking comfort, or are a vacationer with more than a carry-on bag, you're looking at the wrong airline.
Pros:
* ultra cheap flights
* decent on-time rating
* has a large route network, including Mexico and the Caribbean
Cons:
* charge you for simple things, like water
* standard fee for a carry-on bag that doesn't fit under the seat - $35/$40
* standard fee for first checked bag - $30/$35
* standard fee for seat selection - $1 to $50; or just take a random seat for free
* tight legroom
Considering the above, it could be hard to endure a ≈5 hour flight with Spirit. Maybe 2 hours is fine, and you can certainly save tons of money. For example, a flight from L.V. to Dallas costs only $168/person with Spirit, while the next cheapest option is $304/person with Delta. But with some of the extra fees, the price can approach the cost of any other flight.
If you decide to go with them, you could enroll in the $9 fare club for even cheaper fares/fees. For longer flights, Big Front Seats will give you some extra 'comfort'. The experience is similar to domestic first class, minus the improved service.

Pros: It's cheap
Cons: They charge for things every other airline does for free.
I'm not sure what more you want. There's no major differences that you can only find by flying on them. It's not a fine wine. Comparing economy class in domestic airlines is like comparing fast food restaurants. On average they're all pretty average. They use the same planes as other airlines (though in a configuration with slightly less legroom) and they're subject to the same safety regulations.
You're paying for a seat on the plane, nothing more. If that's all you need, you can save a ton of money. Last year I got a round trip flight from Myrtle Beach to Detroit for $100 for a weekend trip for a wedding. It would have cost me more just in gas to drive. All I brought was a personal item, so I didn't pay any extra fees. If I had chosen to bring a full-size carry on, reserved a seat, bought a small snack, and printed my boarding passes at the airport, I would have paid an extra $115 or so. For $215, I could have just bought a ticket on a regular airline where all that would have been free.
If you can travel light and don't care about amenities like beverages, it can be a good choice. For something like a family vacation, in the end you're probably not going to save much money.
I don't fly them often, but what thing I do like is that they bring prices down. Not just their own, but other airlines that fly the same routes.

I travel with Spirit Airlines every year because it is by far the cheapest, the only problem I find with them is that the charge for the simplest of things and if you are hungry and have no money you have to literally cry if you want them to give you something to eat, besides that the staffs are friendly and they are always ontime. For a 5 hour trip maybe you might become provoked with the limited foot room however, I only travel for 1 hr and 40 mins and even I am fed up with.
Pros:
Extra Cheap
Most of the time they arrive early
Planes are small so you don't have to deal with a huge crowd
Ive never had a missing luggage on Spirits
Generous Staff
Pilots normally tell you Hi as you board the plane
Generally a safe Airline (never had a crash or anything)
Cons:
They charge for everything
Limited room space
No first class or business class
If your carry on is too big they will charge for that too.
Overall Id say its a good Airline, best of luck tho, and enjoy your flight :)

Birdbeac, I pay enough as it is, without being charged additional for non service. I will not fly with them.
