Do you take responsibility for all the world's problems/sins?

The butterfly effect states that a butterfly flapping its wings in Brazil can set of a chain reaction that creates a tornado in Texas. Everything is interconnected in this way. So do you take responsibility for all the world's problems/sins considering every personal behavior of yours led to the outcome of this world? Or do you believe you are only responsible for your own problems/sins?

im responsible for my own part in it but i become part of a collective. I am a cell in a larger body.

"Men are the devils of the earth, and animals the souls they torment." - Arthur Schopenhauer

by this I am reminded of my participation in the collective humanity that abuses the earth and its other inhabitants, even though I personally don't do it, but my participation makes me guilty by extension. if we participate, we are not part of the solution. we are part of the problem.

…every man shares the responsibility and the guilt of the society to which he belongs – Henrik Ibsen

if we aren't completely self reliant we are still using the handrails of society and are helping by being a functioning part of the mechanism that is growing larger and more advanced by the day. you and I and all of us who participate in society are collectively responsible for the destruction we wreak upon the earth. sure its not us who are actually doing it, but we are all part of the same collective, they and us. we don't like to hear this kind of thing but the truth is often hard to swallow.

It is no measure of health to be well adjusted to a profoundly sick society - Jiddu Krishnamurti

In individuals, insanity is rare, but in groups, parties, nations and epochs it is the rule - Friedrich Nietzsche

the solution begins with communication, not just human to human but human to nature and nature to human. the individual must rediscover his bond with nature and deconstruct and reevaluate his current psychological comfort zone called "civilized living" which is the rebellion from nature and grow a new one in its place.

Human sickness is so severe that few can bear to look at it...but those who do will become well - Vernon Howard

...a distorted development of autonomy is the root cause of the pathological and, ultimately, evil element in human beings - Arno Gruen

human society is the rebellion from nature and its laws.. its the fear and hatred of nature that has compelled man to build a complex force field to shield him from nature. the root of human sickness is in the mind. mans strength is also his weakness, his blessing is his curse

Till now man has been up against Nature. From now he will be up against his own nature - Dennis Gabor

When a man moves away from nature his heart becomes hard - Lakota

The Earth and myself are of one mind - Chief Joseph

Nature is visible Spirit. Spirit is invisible Nature - Friedrich von Schelling

I feel an indescribable ecstasy and delirium in melting, as it were, into the system of being, in identifying myself with the whole of nature - J. J. Rousseau

Nature brings us back to absolute truth whenever we wander – Louis Agassiz

Our exile has not only been from the Goddess, but also from Nature. It is not surprising, considering that most Westerners live apart from their environment, protected by concrete roadways, consuming machine-processed foods and filled with media information to the detriment of the experience of our own senses. The seasons go unnoticed, we seldom touch the earth, eat fresh food or observe the world personally...The sacred is a forgotten dimension in our society which we ignore at our peril - Caitlin Matthews

I take responsibility for the actions that directly impact my decision and that I could have foreseen the outcome, or the outcome impacts me. I feel this way because its irrational to take on the sins of the world. Because the past effects the future ( according to the butterfly effect ) , that means I am just in the interim. Can't I just throw it to the next person or the person before me in this process and say it was their fault. Its just as likely right?

Just because a butterfly flaps it's wings doesn't mean it will create a tornado. Yes sometimes it will affect wind and other variables just enough to change things, but it's not like every butterfly is causing significant concequences. I fell like we are more responsible for our own stuff. And mildly affect other things around us.

Indeed everything is interconnected with everything else.

In reality (!) every "thing" is just energy in disguise.

    I refer you to

    http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Ezekie...

in which it states everyone is responsible for his own actions or inaction.

I do not take responsibility for all the world's problems or sins.

To use the Bart Simpson defense "I didn't do it, nobody saw me, you can't prove anything".

Yes the butterfly effect is real. I attempt to run my own life so as to not send disturbances through The Force.

Well, I do take responsibility for everything happening in this freaking world. That's what we call feelings of guilt which leads to depression. That's kind of emapthy for eveyone, but it's such intense that you feel more pain and cry more than these people would. For me, it's directly associated with feelings of uselessness, that feeling that tells you you could do something to help people, but you don't. Unfortunately you can't control those feelings, they take control of your mind and concentrating becomes very hard.

No. Only my own actions. And there are so many extraneous factors influencing the outcome of my actions so i don't feel at all responsible for world problems.

Dear Architect, no, I don't take responsibility for all the world's problems. I would, however, love to contribute to a solution. I am insignificant in the world but I'd love to help.

No, I only take responsibility for my own actions and only the outcomes that are directly caused by my actions.

Life forms are not conscious about their acts, not even human beings. The ancient wisdom of eastern philosophy from Hinduism and Buddhism teach us to be aware of each and every of our act. Even if we are aware, our physical body is bound by this chain.

I can see the world as the product of unconscious life. Conscious are the Buddhas, the rest are sleeping.

The answer to this question is between yes and no.. since you use the word sin, I'd say,

Bhagvad Geeta and Gautama Buddha have answered this question the other way..

While Bhagvad geeta says that one who acts consciously realizes that is he always free from the consequences of the karma, a conscious man knows that when his body is suffering and knows in his heart that he is not the sufferer but just a watcher..

Buddha asks his disciples to be free from Karma and its consequences since they lead us to pain and suffering.. having no desires and aware each moment, one realizes that all the acts do have their consequences.. yes one is responsible and according to the karma theory from India, one will be rewarded according to the karma done by him.. this can be said as the "sin" defined.. yes we are responsible and the chain reaction affects us also.. Buddha asks to come out of this chaos and stay still- "A buddha is free from non-sense karma"

the essence of Eastern philosophy says that only a conscious man is free from the consequences of this karma and it further says that once the man is conscious he knows that everything including his body is bound by this chain but he himself after realizing the truth knows that once he is free of desires and is aware from moment to moment, one who is free from the boredom, happiness and pain attains peace wherever he is and he who is resting inside his own body knows that all this is not him but an autonomous function that is endless and he is now detached from the consequences

The answer is yes since the world is responsible for their unconscious acts and human unconscious acts are much dangerous for human beings than other life forms.

only in Indian philosophy can I trace your question where it has been defined at various places that all Karmas have consequences and this Chain seems to fit into that Karma, its true however that if we are Conscious, like a Buddha, our suffering ends because one's control over the mind, (when mind is the world) results in a tremendous transformation inside him.. a mind is everything and Enlightenment is the end of the wandering of the mind.. all delusions disappear and one is able to accurately see the real(I am supposing many things here)

A conscious person knows all and the rest unconscious life does not know hence it suffers.. the world is a chaos for the unconscious since his striving never ends and his mind is not aware of the reality his mind is fooled by itself since in absence of knowledge

yes in a way. i do believe that what i do has a larger impact than what i see. so i think that the best we can do is be good in our own little corner of the universe and that will also help the universe at large.
