What do you think about age differences in relationships?

I am 22 and I and my fincé is almost 44. I love him with all my heart and he loves me. We have a beautiful daughter together.

I get states all the time when were out. But I don't care. I'm happy and to hell what others think of my relationship.

What is the most you age difference you have dated and will date?

    Jesse,

Good for you and to hell with the rest.

My wife and I and ten years apart and have a beautiful daughter as well. We love each other and love our little one and we have a great family life. I do get the odd looks from time to time just as I'm sure you do...and people tend mistake us as relatives rather than partners...but usually those occurrences just give us something funny to talk about later. ;)

Congrats on the birth of your child and the love you've found. Keep doing what makes you happy!

    Cheers,

    Dan

I think the problem people have with age gaps and the reason people stare is because they know that with age usually comes wisdom and experience and that means people think the older partner is taking advantage of the younger naive one. Of course that might not be the case, but people can't help thinking that, because if your partner is old enough to be your mother or father then people are faced with what looks like a dad or mum being too intimate with their own child and so they worry about you and your daughter. But, people will think you came from a tough home and have father issues so look for a father figure.

I suppose once you're considered an adult then it's really up to you who you see, and who sees you.

Personally, I think that age gaps are okay until they start becoming whole generation gaps. Dating within five or ten years of your age is fine, but twenty? It seems a little excessive.
