having occasional trouble starting my car?
i drive an 05 Chevy Cobalt and about 3 times now i have had trouble starting it. when i turn the key nothing happens. it just clicks. i can turn on the accessories but not start the engine. the engine doesn't rev or anything, it just goes click, click, click, every time i try turning the key. i have to remove the key, wait a minute, and try again and it will eventually start. is this my starter going bad or what? and how expensive is that to fix?

Sounds like starter motor brushes are worn out. Auto electrician needs to fix it before it leaves you totally stranded Cheapest fix would be a reconditioned starter motor. Still be a couple of hundred $.
If it were your battery, it wouldn't start at all. It would just keep clicking and then nothing.

You just might have a bad battery connection. When you hear the click, that sometimes allows the battery to self clean itself at the terminal connections. It's just enough to allow you to start it on the third try. Try taking the cables off and cleaning them with a wire brush until they are shiny. If that fails you may have a battery that isn't holding a full charge and needs replacing. The starter you can check by having someone give you a jump, if it spins normal it's not the starter.

Sound like your battery is low or is going bad. Try driving the car for a while with nothing turned on, radio, air condition system off and see what happens or go to a shop and have the battery tested. If it test good then you may have starter troubles but l think it is the battery is weak.
