Is Detroit's decent into bankruptcy a direct result of decades of democrat control?

Or are conservatives somehow to blame?

Conservatives should have bought more Detroit bonds. And they should move businesses to Detroit and hire union employees so that the grateful workers can take all their money and bankrupt them as well. It will serve them right for not appreciating all that union Democrats have done. Like giving up the klan after the last union klan senator died.

I think you mean descent, don't you? It's a direct result of many of the automobile factories being moved outside of the city plus the emergence of competition from foreign car makers, particularly Honda and Toyota, plus mismanagement. As the jobs left the city so did most of it's population taking with them the taxes they would have paid on their earnings leaving behind people entitled to welfare and unemployment benefits.

"Furthermore, since Detroit’s population has fallen below 750,000, it was not legally allowed to collect income taxes from its residents until Gov. Rick Snyder and the state’ legislature reduced that threshold to 600,000 two years ago. The city’s population hovers today around 700,000 residents.

“But this lack of tax base is also exactly the thing that many Republicans would impose on us even when our cities have sufficient populations,” Harris-Perry added. “Even when our communities have sufficient populations.”"

    CPSN is great.
