how to overcome computer addiction and keep myself motivated to draw?

until i got a laptop as a present a few years ago i used to draw and draw and keep drawing all the time but now all i do is waste my time on the damn thing playing videogames all day and when the whole day has gone by i feel like 'damn another day gone down the drain'.

drawing is one of my very few good points(not to mention worth hours of my time) and i dont wanna let go of it. for a couple of weeks ive tried forcing myself into drawing or at least reading a book to keep myself occupied but thoughts like 'okay ive been drawing for an hour let me spend a few minutes on the laptop' creep in and these "few minutes" always turn out to be a minimum of 4 hours or so.

ive even tried asking my mom to keep it somewhere hidden, locked up and out of my sight so i could focus on something else but even then the urge to use the computer takes over. its so damn overwhelming and i hate myself for giving in to temptation.(Fact: less than 15% of a day is spent on drawing or doing anything creative for that matter)

and there are few instances when i do feel motivated when im looking at artworks by professional artists or reading an inspiring book but that too lasts for a very short period of time.

ive been giving it lots of thought and my only conclusion is lack of motivation because the fact is i dont even like playing games, never have. but for some reason im addicted to them...sounds self-contradictory right? but thats just the way it is and i dont know what to do about it.

if theres anyone who knows how to deal with this id be grateful for your advice

Well, leave behind all the materilised things that you have at your disposal and give yourself a time to think about yourself and of you then create something new which is not ever imagined.

Why not try digital drawing? Programs like Paint tool sai,Gimp, and heck even the original Paint can help with your drawing and make it so you're not fully distracted by your computer.

I really don't think you have an addition because otherwise you wouldn't move from your computer, but to ease up from the computer why don't you try distracting yourself by watching a tv series or movie trilogy? They both can give you ideas while your stimulated, and it might even give you some inspiration to draw!

Try new things, the less you're around your computer the less you'll think of it.
