Ways to motivate myself into riding again ?
Im going through a weird phase where i miss riding more then anything, but cant seem to find the motivation to do it again.. I have my own horse in my backyard. And every morning i look at him and think about how i want to start riding again. But then put it off.. Ive gotten on a few times, loved the ride and told myself id start getting my boy back in shape again. But then it gets put off..
One of the reasons I dont ride much is not having a good place to actually flat properly or even jump. I dont have any good field to hack out in either, just roads. Not to mention no one to ride with. And i know, in the end this is basically just a bunch of excuses.. But im stumped.. I seriously want to get back into riding but literally cannot get back into riding everyday :/ Any ideas on how i can motivate myself ? Im pretty damn desperate at this point. :/

I know what you mean, I was at the same point for awhile. It sucks when you have to ride alone or when you have only roads to ride by (same here) but I started going out there and just hanging out with my horses, bonding even more with them. Eventually I felt bad because they weren't getting exercised and I thought that they deserved more than to be pasture ornaments. No one can really tell you how to motivate yourself. You have to do it. You have to get out there, and ride for awhile.

To me, having my own horse would be motivation enough!
Maybe trailer out to a nice facility with an indoor, some rings, or a cross country field you can work on flat work in & then move up to some jumps in!
Or you could join Pony Club.
Buying a new pretty pad might motivate you! Buy some matching polos or boots, too. That's always fun.
