How would a Muslim staying above the Arctic Circle observe Ramadan?

Are the rules in hadith or in the Q'ran? Would a devout Muslim refuse a post there in the summer?

its not about daylight or night..

its about patience, obedience to Gods commandments, piety,e tc.

a muslim that lives in a region where there is constant daylight or constant darkness. breaks up

his day accordingly.. its not hard to do..

they can do this, or they can follow the prayer timings of the region just south of them or choose to follow the timings of Mecca SaudiArabia.. easy

and by the way.. there are muslims on every single continent of earth and even in the space station now..

when Ramadan was conceived nobody even knew there was an Arctic Circle.

it's a great question today but in the past it wasn't relevant considering Islam hadn't expanded very far of the known world which is probably 20% of the entire planet today.

According to this webpage there is a set of prayer times for Barrow, Alaska.

I don't know how these are calculated. For about the first half of that calendar the sun never sets.

I asked this once, you should see the convoluted reasoning they use to justify not people there not having to fast until the sun goes down. They try to square the circle of old pre-scientific habits of desert people with an environment not suited to it at all.
