Are the rules in hadith or in the Q'ran? Would a devout Muslim refuse a post there in the summer?

In my life I have known, fairly well, three people with exotropic strabismus - that is, an outward squint.

Each of them struck me as a remarkable lateral thinker and I developed the theory that seeing two views of the world may contribute to an unusual brain development.

Any first-hand experience?

Any similar observations?

Any research known of to support or rubbish my notion?

I have gathered about a kg of haws (hawthorn tree berries) but I have lost the recipe. I could take a guess at the ingredients but what I do not know is how to separate the flesh of the berries from the stalks and stones.

I might be interested in US supplier if the shipping costs are not prohibitive.

Old house, roadside terrace; we are told the supply pipe underground is still lead. OH always runs tap for ages in the morning before filling kettle. In these conservation-conscious times, how long to run the tap to be sure of getting fresh water?

I've started pulling the old tiles off the walls of the bathroom. Not surprisingly, the 100-year-old plaster is coming with them, so I will be down to bricks on two walls and laths on another.

Most of the surface is to be re-tiled.

I'm looking for advice on what sheet material to use to replace the plasterwork; thinking about the rigidity, especially on the stud wall, as the studs are 450 mm apart. I also have to try to keep costs down.
