do you think college football players should be paid more than they already are? wouldnt that make them pros?

Update:

i just heard theres a group of players trying to sue to get played.

i know the rules say no now.

Update 2:

they believe they should be paid because the school makes so much money, and they are not allowed to have jobs. i totally disagree. i wish my college was free.

Update 3:

No.. They shouldn't be paid.. They're already getting free schooling (that costs thousands of dollars) and free meals at the training table....

No, I don't think they should get paid. They already are getting meals, lodging, clothing, entertainment and, most of all, an absolutely free education. Money made from the football team pays for all other sports at a given university. So, it's not like the university is rolling around in cash. Most schools actually lose money with sports. A select few make a profit, but, again, those profits pay for the Archery team or the golf team, etc.You open Pandora's Box by paying players. Are you going to pay the women's volleyball players, too? By paying them, the sport is no longer amateur, it's professional. How long until high school athletes demand to be paid?

Yeah it really pisses me off when they say they need to be paid. They are getting handed everything that they need. Free food, free school, free housing, free access to the sports facilities. They are living a comfortable life by any means. Plus, giving these guys money usually results in them going broke because they don't know what the real world is like. I have no sympathy that they don't get any money and have no sympathy when they leave the league and we find out that are broke. Most usually make more in 5 years then most people make in a life.

As a regular guy I wish my college education was free but I needed my college education to get a job. The players in the NCAA don't need their education because they are going to be drafted into the NFL or NBA based on their athletic ability. In other words they are essentially being paid in something that has no value to them. What is Jadevon Clowney going to do with his college education? The answer is nothing, its totally worthless to him because that is not the job he will be doing after he graduates. We go to college to get jobs, he doesn't need college to get a job but he's forced to go.

As far as the income is concerned I like to think of it this way. Assume while you were at college the school used your face and image on bobble head dolls, notebooks, posters, sold jerseys with your name on them, and made billions off of you. Would you be ok with not getting a cut?

I think they should be. Its absolutely ridiculous that they generate billions and don't see a dime. The Universities make money off their jerseys, off video games (which is why they're severing their ties with EA Sports) and other ways so the athletes should get some type of compensation. Either a stipend or some type of trust for when they leave school.

College football players cannot be paid according to NCAA rules.

However, they do get a TON of benefits, such as full ride scholarships and free equipment.
