How to achieve a rich vibrant violet/brown hair color using Aveda?!?!?
I love the look of rich dark brown hair with violet/purple tones in it. My hair (underneath) is currently about a level 3. I work for an Aveda salon and I used a 3n/neutral-natural and added b/v (blue/violet). It wasn't as intense as I had hoped. I want to see more tones. How can I formulate this or what can I do to achieve a dark brown rich hair color with intense violet/purple tones?!?! I will select a best answer worth 10 points and I will share your ideas/advice at the Aveda salon I work for and totally give you credit for it. I will also write you a lovely thank you note. Please help. Tried everything and desperate. Also, I do not want to have to pre-lighten my hair.

You may have to do this color outside of your salon if you don't carry Redken but their new chromatics line has a great purple/violet. If you have no new growth or gray and color is even from scalp to ends try layering a 3Vv, double violet pigmented color, over it. If it is not even, fill with a 3N and tone with the 3Vv. I've tried many brown violet tones from different lines and am the most happy with the new chromatics Vv. It's a cool violet unlike most that tend to be on the pink/red violet side. I also like Rusk's MV color, but it doesn't go as dark as a level 3. You could probably mix a MV with a V though to get a 3.
