Which video player will play a .mp4 file?
These days, so many of the videos I download from youtube are in .mp4 format. But I am not able to play them using VLC media player, real player or windows media player. I have tried downloading various so called MP4 video players but none of them worked. Is there any other software or video player you can tell me about that will play these files? I do not want to have to convert them to some other format before playing as it takes too much of time and I am not able to find a proper video converter either. they all have restrictions to usage unless you pay some money or the converted video ends up having no sound at all. Please suggest a suitable MP4 video player.

Windows Media Player will play anything just fine. What you are missing are the codecs. You don't need any new players. We prefer the Windows Media Player Classic for doing the actual playing. Google either Klite Codec Pack or Media Player Codec Pack. Either will install all the codecs you need. Klite also gives you the option to install a cinema version of Windows Media Player Classic which works great.
