Direct TV DVR not recording series?

My DVR is not recording any of the series that I have. For each show it says 0 upcoming episodes. I don't want to have to delete and set them all up again because I have 42 shows. My power went out the other day, but I don't know if that has anything to do with it.

Update:

I reset it, but it didn't do anything except now some channels show up twice on the guide which is a bit annoying. Any tips on how to fix that as well would be greatly appreciated!

Sorry I didn't put down that I have an HD DVR model HR24-500.

I understand the whole new episode vs rerun thing.

I have a lot of shows that air during the summer months (Suits, Covert Affairs, Newsroom, among others) that are showing up as "no upcoming episodes" when in fact there are new episodes

Update 3:

Now that I'm looking at it more, there's a lot of random errors on the guide. For example On a lot of channels if I go forward a few (like 3 or 4) days, it says "Upcoming: Title not available".

So is this whole thing just a result of the guide being screwed up? And how do I fix this?

    You did not tell us exactly which receiver you have. Do you think there is only 1 and everybody has the same unit with the same features?

    (sigh)

    In general you can setup to record ALL episodes or NEW episodes.

    We are in summer re-run time right now. I suspect you have properly setup to record NEW episodes but everything is a re-run right now. Or - the electronic program guide is messed up and not marking new episodes as NEW. If this is the case - Call DirectTV for tech support.

    You can delete a whole series on an HR20 by selecting the series and hitting the red button. On the Hr-10 you have to delete each one individually. If your recording shows you dont want to see anymore you can cancel the season pass. Resetting the dvr will not erase your recorded shows.

    You need to re-instigate series record. Check your handbook.
