What is going to happen to MediCal/Medicaid under Obamacare?
I keep hearing that we all have to choose and pay for our own insurances. Some of the insurances are limited. So if a person buys a "sanctioned" insurance but has expenses beyond it, will there still be MediCal? If a person pays the penalty but doesn't buy insurance, will there be MediCal if they get injured or sick?

If by "we" you mean the working middle class, there is one answer.
If by "we" you mean those on Medi-Cal, expect no changes.
The prediction is that for 2014 the Medi-Cal enrollment will increase by 3/4 of a million persons.
That is a lot of new people getting medicaid - aka medi-cal.
This is one of those good things bad things.
The report I reference says it won't really cost California (state/taxpayers) that much more money.
They will get back more than they pay in. Of course the money comes from somewhere - and when you say 'Federal", you mean 'All of the other states".
If the statement ["Of the new Medi-Cal spending, 85 percent or more will be federally-paid."] is true, then that 85% will be paid by Other taxpayers, which of course is a half truth, since California taxpayers will be contributing to that 85% paid by the Feds.

Significant Increase in Coverage with Minimal Cost to the State

The states, both politicians and taxpayers, seem to think if the Feds fund it, they don't have to pay for it.
I know, it sounds crazy, I mean where does the Federal government get their money, except from the taxpayers in states.
There are no free lunches. Wait, I forgot, The Federal Reserve can just start up the printing press and print more money, doesn't cost anyone anything.
Oh the humanity!
This map helps, but is inaccurate. it indicates Florida is one of the 26 states who will be involved in the Affordable Care Act - instead of turning it over to the Feds - but they have changed their position on that. They will opt out of state participation, except what the Feds are willing to do on their own.

This is another good source, more up to date, shows Florida as one of the 28 states deciining state-based exchange participation - they will let the Feds do everything.

I suggest the interested reader review both reports.

Management has told us to expect a doubling of Medicaid in our state, and we are one of the group of 17 already fully in Medicaid Expansion. We opened the gates over a year ago, but more to come.

I dont know what you are talking about. It sounds very confused. Medi-Cal still exists. If you have government subsidy like Medi-Cal or Medicare or Tricare you are exempt from having to purchase insurance. Why dont you just read the Obamacare website.
