Being deployed, how will I manage my home?
Alright, I am being deployed in September. I have no family members in the state I am in. The only 6 friends I have are being deployed with me (buddy program) and I was wondering, how do single deployed people care for their homes? Like when my grass grows and when my sidewalk has snow on it. How do I take care of that so I don't get a violation ticket?

You would Hire a Management Company to do that...

Most single military members that I know give up their rental when they deploy. They put their vehicles in storage (most posts will offer a storage space for vehicles) and their household goods as well. If you're dead-set on keeping your home, then you'll need to contact a property management commpany and set up an account with them to rent your home. Keep in mind though that the property manager gets a pretty good portion of the first month's rent as a "finder's fee" and also that, depending on the market, it can be hard to find good tenants. Honestly, I think it would be easier to put your stuff in storage rather than trust that the property will be taken care of by strangers.

if it is a RENTAL - use your deployed status to get out of the lease. if you want to KEEP it, then you are going to have to pay the $$$ to keep it, you WON'T get BAH for it, because your housing will be provided while you are deployed. do you have a trusted neighbor? i'd put personal items in storage for the deployment, and make arrangements with a neighbor to cut the grass, come in and look in on things from time to time, shovel the walk. either that or you sublet (if you can), or you hire a management company to do it for you.
if you OWN the house, do you have a family member that CAN live there? if you own it, you'll want to rent it out or hire amanagement company, otherwise you are going to have some homeless BUM get in there and squat, damage it, strip the copper... and so on and so on....

Talk to your landlord, most in military areas are pretty understanding. You could always break your lease with the military clause, get a storage unit, and bank your BAH.

You could rent it out. If that's not a great plan go with the property manager. they are usually under a $100 a month retainer and can sub out any maintenance for you.

Contact the Base Housing Office. There are many contractors who can and will do everything for you. A week before you come back they'll clean the place and even stock the fridge for you.
