Can a microwave be repaired?

The power is on but it has stopped heating. Does anyone know of a way to repair this?

Yeah, everyone knows a live magnetron is OK to throw away..... NOT.

Your best bet would be to take it to someplace like the Sears appliance repair depot. If its not repairable, they are able to SAFELY dispose of the magnetron. Generally most every microwave is serviceable... its only a question of money.

I have repaired my own microwaves for a period of years. But yes, they do eventually die. After removing the loose parts in the Microwave, tilt it on its side and look for a small hole in the bottom. After you locate the hole, poke a WD-40 tube in the microwave and spray liberally. Put it right side up and replace the plate and little circular thingamajig in the microwave. Wait five minutes and put something in the microwave to heat up. Good luck. This has worked for me two times. in the last twenty or so years. If that doesn't work. Go shopping.

    Thanks

They can be repaired, but the cost to repair one is high. Most people will just buy another one vs having it repaired.

No - throw it out. the magnatron inside of it is dangerous if you remove the shielding.
