Why do I get disconnected from the internet while gaming on my xbox and laptop every hour?

Every hour, precisely from the time I either log into xbox live or when I start pc gaming, I get disconnected. After doing some research I thought it might be from having a dynamic IP address so I changed the settings on my extender to a static IP address, but the problem continues. I have heard people mention DHCP lease times may have something to do with it, but under my extender settings there is no way to adjust the lease time. Before I bought the extender (NETGEAR WN2000RPT) I had only decent connection, but didn't have this problem, so I know the problem lies within my extender. I was wondering how I could change this problem which has come to annoy me while trying to stream movies or game online.

Update:

Yes but if the DHCP lease time was set at an hour on my main router, then it would have dropped me from the internet when I was connecting to it, before I bought the range extender, which it didn't. So unless by me installing my range extender automatically changed the DHCP lease time on the main router, that shouldn't be the reason correct?

It might not be your extender, it may be the DHCP lease time of your main router LAN. The DHCP lease time of my combo wireless/router/modem is set for 7 "days". Maybe yours is set for 1 "hour" and even if you set a static LAN IP on computer devices, maybe the range extender is getting a new IP from your main router.

A static LAN IP is set within the network IP range of course, but is best set outside of DHCP assigned range. For example my DHCP assigns LAN IP's ending in .100-.199, so for static IP addresses I use numbers less that .100 for my main PC and printer and numbers over .199 for things like wireless bridges, etc.
