Has anyone else noticed how often people here confuse pantheism with polytheism?

Surely it's almost the exact opposite?

Many gods vs simply naming the universe itself "god."

They are probably people who never learned the meaning of pantheism, and get confused by similar terminology. Exposed to ancient polytheistic legends, they become used to referring those gods as being grouped into pantheons. The two terms share nearly identical etymological roots: pan-theon (meaning all gods), and pan-theos (Greek for all god).

Even The Pantheon in Rome conflates these concepts of god. The view through the dome evokes an all-encompassing celestial unity, yet the temple itself was originally dedicated to a multitude of deities.
