What should be my first car?
I want something kinda sporty with good speed, handling and vision. (especially rear view) I would prefer automatic because i'm kinda new.. Not too expensive or old though. ($17k max + 2000-2013 preferably)

i think a mustang is too much power for a beginner and a bit hard to park for a begginer, i would reccomend a VW golf exellent rear view, very easy to park, great looks and very realible especially the MK5 as for the mk6 stay away from the TSI versions (turbo) because of engine problems also make sure that the mk6 has had the gearbox modded from the dealer or replaced because all DSG gear boxes have problems. our mk6 golf's gearbox broke at 30xxx kilos but it was under warrenty so they changed it.

Normally I would agree with getting a Mustang, but since you prefer buying an automatic, i would advise against it. If you want something that's practical, sporty/fast, looks good, is cheap, and reliable, get a Mazda Speed3. You won't regret it. Trust me.
Other Suggestions:
Regular Mazda 3
Subaru Impreza WRX
Volkswagen Golf GTI

Get a mustang, who doesn't like mustangs?
If your limit is 17k, you should get a 2005+ mustang for about 10-13k.
