How do you make a rope tree swing?

I've just recently finished high school so I have the summer off. A few of my friends and I have organised to go to a lake in these woods to spend the day there having a barbeque and whilst we were buying everything we bought rope to build a tree swing which extends over the lake. The problem is that none of us actually know how to tie the rope safely on the tree branch and to see the seat (we're only using one rope instead of two, like this:http://mw2.google.com/mw-panoramio/photo%E2%80%A6

My question is how would I safely tie the rope around the tree branch and would I need any other equipment such as a carabiner clip?

P.S. I put this question in the 'Climbing' section as I presumed more people will know how to tie knots in this section.

Yes, we know how to tie knots. We are also very safety conscious.

We dont know what kind of rope you bought. How strong it is. Diameter. Construction. Etc.

We also dont know the lay out of the lake or, more appropriately, the trees that grow around the lake, how the lean out, how big they are, size of their branches, Etc. One would also need to make sure that no matter where the person swinging lets go, that the water is deep enough that they will be safe.

If I could find a strong enough tree with deep enough water and find a place to string the rope, I would tie a few knots into the rope so you dont have a seat. Most rope swings by a lake I've ever encountered are used to swing out and then let go to fall into the lake. I also dont know what you intend to do with the carabiner.

    -Good luck
