The president claims only 2100 jobs would be created by the pipeline?
That was the figure he projected. Where did he come up with such a low number to say its not worth it when “The president’s own State Department reported that Keystone would support upwards of 40,000 jobs. In this economy, any source of private job creation should be welcomed with open arms. After nearly five years and 15,500 pages of review, there is no reason to delay these jobs another day. Republicans, Democrats, leading unions, and job creators all agree, it’s time to start building.”

That's funny. The Democrats support subsidies to green companies that go bankrupt but oppose free energy jobs like Keystone--because they're supposedly too few and temporary. The government guaranteed over $500 million in loans to Solyndra for how many jobs? Only a few hundred and only for a couple of years before it went bankrupt.
Keystone doesn't need subsidies or loan guarantees--just permission to build the pipeline; but Democrats would rather throw millions down the green energy rat hole. I don't know how many jobs Keystone will generate, or for how long, but they won't cost the taxpayers anything.

"The president’s own State Department reported that Keystone would support upwards of 40,000 jobs. In this economy, any source of private job creation should be welcomed with open arms"
Source please. You saying they said it doesn't mean that they said it.
<<<But subsequent analysis suggests that Keystone's job-creating potential is more modest. The U.S. State Department calculated last year that the underground pipeline would add 5,000 to 6,000 U.S. jobs. >>>>

You are only off by an order of magnitude.

Yes, he did, and he was correct.
Rather than just a cut and paste from FOX, perhaps you could see if you can find where the State Department quoted that number. I certainly can't find it.
But what I DID find is this:
The State Department said Monday (yesterday) that President Obama’s jobs claims about the Keystone XL pipeline were consistent with the agency’s ongoing review of the project.
"The president was clearly stating that the proposed project would have a negligible impact on the overall U.S. job market, which was the finding of the State Department in the initial, Draft SEIS [supplemental environmental impact statement],” a State Department official said.

Obama didn't use the "upwards" figure that counts secondary job creation not directly related to the pipeline construction. Obama just used the figure of people that would actually be employed constructing the pipeline.
There are a lot of reasons not to build the pipeline. Leaks and pollution is the top reason.

40,000 jobs dream on, it would create no new jobs at the refineries and you think it takes 40 thousand people to monitor a pipeline yea ok dream on
- ?Lv 68 years ago
2,100 people to run the pipeline and 37,900 to clean up the spills.
But in seriousness you have to be more specific with what jobs they are talking about. 40,000 short term jobs isn't the same as long term jobs. So, without any context I can't judge what they are saying.
