  • Rules regarding spousal use of VA disability money?

My husband and I have been married 49 years. He receives VA disability which is a decent amount. 3 months ago he took all the money from our joint account and had his check automatically deposited in his personal checking account. I am not on the account and so not have access to it. He has a friend that told him he could do it because his name only was on the check. We have used the money in a joint acct for 20 yrs and now I have been excluded, I an 79 yrs old and cannot get a job...he has ruined me. Any suggestions? We are not contemplating divorce so this is not part of the money. He just decided he wanted control. He has $1000 a month to blow on anything he wants and leaves me nothing. This is an absolute nightmare

  • i wonder how many disabled vets will suffer if no checks will be sent out in November?

I know I will suffer. Husband permanently disabled and I don't know what we will do. Lose our home? Can't buy groceries (we don't get food stamps)? Have our electricity cut off? No money for gas to get to the VA hospital? We are doomed.

  • Will insurance premiums be reasonable?

The insurance will only pay a percentage as it does now. After you scrimp and scrape to pay the premium how can you pay the balance which may be close to thousands. This will be impossible for those with families on minimum wage will it not?

  • What are the circumstances making it harder to vote?

This is all new to me. Since Eisenhower I have never heard of it being hard to vote and I have always been involved with elections. How has the laws changed about the right to vote? Each party has a list of volunteers to take people to the polls to vote and I have been one. So what is the problem surrounding not being able to vote for some.

  • Has the word "closure" taken on a different meaning today?

I hear people needing closure about things happening in their life. A child is killed, perp brought to justice thus creating closure. How does closure fit in with the child gone forever. Body is found thus closure is once again applied. Will you forever wonder what they went through before death or will you have closure? Closure means letting go and forgetting. My son died and for 8 months I was told "When you get the full autopsy report you will find closure" What??? It was found he had a blood clot in his heart. I am still not in the closure phase nor will I ever be. So when does the closure thing happen in most situations. Do I smile and say I have closure now altho I will never see my son again?

  • The government is involved in most aspects of our lives so why don't they fix this problem?

Juvenile delinquency is usually blamed on a father not being in the home. This is a fallacy. I know probably hundreds of kids who have no father in the home and they are doing very well. Why not put the blame on the kids who are doing wrong? They know right from wrong and are making that choice. Also why are so many violent video games out? That in itself desensitizes kids toward crime. Do you think video games full of violence after playing hours on end have more of an impact than no father being in the home. Kids buy their own games and how can a parent take away games with the fear of violence being put toward them from and angry teen?

  • Are the making of M.e.-th ingredients easy to get?

I was looking up the ingredients and will probably get flagged by the cops. I am not a user and never have been> I am a senior citizen and was just curious. It seems to me that all the ingredients are for everyday use. CVS was trying to have ID to get nail polish remover! I use the stuff like crazy for many household cleaning chores and also for my manicures. I noticed on the list so many things. Will those items be banned too? Ridiculous!

  • What is wrong with drug testing people getting gov assistance?

Now people are saying is is an invasion of privacy and unconstitutionally illegal . Do they think while receiving assistance they should be allowed to use drugs that are against the law? I think they should be given a choice, drugs or assistance. Breaking the law does not give you the right to privacy.

  • Is this what the voters right changes are changing?

Currently, over 5.3 million people in the United States are denied the right to vote because of felony disenfranchisement.[7] Approximately thirteen percent of the United States' population is African American, yet African Americans make up thirty-eight percent of the prison population.[2] Slightly more than fifteen percent of United States population is Hispanic, while twenty percent of the prison population is Hispanic.[2] People who are felons are disproportionately people of color.[1][2] Felon disenfranchisement laws disproportionately affect communities of color as "they are disproportionately arrested, convicted, and subsequently denied the right to vote".[1] Research has shown that as much as 10 percent of the population in some minority communities is unable to vote, as a result of felon disfranchisement.[1]

Are these the people who say should be able to vote and change the law? I didn't know you couldn't vote if you have a felony conviction!

  • The president claims only 2100 jobs would be created by the pipeline?

That was the figure he projected. Where did he come up with such a low number to say its not worth it when “The president’s own State Department reported that Keystone would support upwards of 40,000 jobs. In this economy, any source of private job creation should be welcomed with open arms. After nearly five years and 15,500 pages of review, there is no reason to delay these jobs another day. Republicans, Democrats, leading unions, and job creators all agree, it’s time to start building.”

  • Exactly what are voter rights that is talked about now?

It's always about minorities. This makes no sense to me because it seems like they are saying the blacks and other minorities can't vote. Please explain what they are referring to. I thought all citizens could vote. Thanks

Are the blacks rioting about the man that killed all those women and buried them in his yard? Where is the outrage?????

  • How can "we the citizens" help Detroit?

Surely something can be done to help with the poverty, crime, housing. Are there young people who would love to get out of there and start a new life but have no place to go or the money to do so? It seems to me they are fighting for survival. Taken out of that environment they would be safer and could raise a family without bullets flying past their heads. I would not be afraid to help a young decent family.

  • Why can't bl acks realize their contributions to the US?

Why do the black communities not use these people as examples of their people and their minds. All we ever hear is how they are put down. I even knew about these inventions and when discussing them with a black HS senior she had not clue! What do they celebrate black history month for? Is it to say "We are put down and can't accomplish anything because of the whites?" I think that instead of crying victim all the time they need to think of the positive and how some blacks have given to society instead of taking. Thats why I feel no pity for the ones who hang in gangs and live totally on welfare. I have precious black friends who are appalled at the actions of their race.
