Credit Reporting Agencies? Why are they so horrible to deal with?

Today on the news I was really happy that a lady won 18 million dollars against the defamatory information on her credit report. When did these agencies come into existence? Who do they report these agencies have to report to? And why is the staff so mean and disrespectful to consumers?

Actually, most of the customer service people for all three credit bureaus have been outsourced to another country, like so many other business call centers. The people actually have a book of scripted responses. They don't know and can't do anything other than read the script.

I saw a report that one of the credit bureaus forwards all written disputes to a dept where the reps reduce it to a 2 word code from a list -- no matter what the problem or what proof or attachments. No one ever actually looked at any of the back up or the explanations.

Personally, I blame this on all the "dispute everything" credit repair. The credit bureaus get flooded with bogus disputes and have to come up with some cheap way to process the disputes.

Opinion: Their staff must be comprised of high school drop outs that are taught just to open mail and not do anything with it.

I've had problems getting my reports from them for years.

Even though I've been at the same address forever.
