Windows 8 Users What your reviews?
Cnet is saying wait for Windows 9. I've read that on the tablet Windows 8 is great, but as a desktop or computer OS not so great. I'd liike to hear the Pros and Cons of some actual WINDOW 8 USERS. Thank you.

I've been using it on my desktop PC since it was released in October and I like it. It does take some getting used to but it's faster on start up and shut down than Windows 7, supports the latest tech like USB 3.0, and has better security. I also think that it works fine with a keyboard and mouse.
It does take a little bit to learn the ins and outs of the new interface, the start screen, charms bar, and switcher. Learning to search for files and programs might feel a little weird but it's also very useful. Instead of digging though the folder hierarchy of the start menu, just hit the Windows key, type what you want, and Windows will bring it to you. To be fair though, this feature has been in Windows since Vista but I think few people actually tried it until Windows 8.
Probably one of the biggest problems for new users is that Windows 8 doesn't really show you how to use it. You're basically dumped into start screen without instruction on how it all works together. So I highly recommend watching some YouTube videos before playing with a Windows 8 PC so you'll already know what to expect.
Another problem are the default apps. I strongly recommend users change the default photo, video, music, and PDF reader just as soon as they can via Control Panel, Default Programs. They're just too limiting for desktop users. So install your favorite PDF reader and make Windows Media Player the default for music and video and Windows Photo Viewer for images/photographs. That's probably where the "good for tablet, bad for desktop" comes from. The default apps are fine for use on a tablet but not great on a desktop. Desktop users can choose to use desktop programs which is why I think that argument doesn't hold water.
So that's my take on it.

I love Windows 8. A week or so ago, I had to turn in my laptop to a repair center and I couldn't wait to get my laptop back because I hated having to go back to Windows 7.

I'm running windows 8.1 preview on my iMac right now and I like it. I'm really not into windows but thought I'd check it out! I like it better than I thought I would! I think the 8.1 update is much better than 8! So I'm running it on a desktop!
But I'm still a Mac fan boy!
