Can I cash a check from 1 bank, at a different bank?

I have a check from American Express that I want to cash but there is no American Express bank near me. Can I cash it at a place like chase? It is over 30 days old I tried going to Walmart. Also can I do it wt=without a bank account?

If you do not have an account at the bank, it is unlikely they will cash the check for you. Even if you had a Amex bank in your area, they would likely charge you a fee to cash the check if you don't have a bank account.

You can try check cashing places -- they charge a fee. Or open a bank account and deposit the check.
