How to block someone in basketball when they're driving(read description pls)?
Okay so I actually have two questions here. But first.
Whenever someone drives in on me, they're usually on their right....and do a layup with their right hand. Whenever I try to look it it's like they hook it right away from it and I can't block it. Most people tell me to just try to alter the shot by going straight and putting a hand in their face but it doesn't work. Btw I'm taller than them most of the time....and I jump higher.
Second question I have is how do I get more like..explosiveness or hustle? I mean when I'm just jumping around, I jump the highest of my friends...I touch a little higher than the backboard maybe an inch and i'm like 5'6''. But when I'm playing, my short friend who's literally only 5'2'' and a half grabs almost every rebound. Most of the time I just don't feel the energy to JUMP my highest. And when I do I don't know how to time it so that I can grab it as quick and as high as possible. It's really annoying.

1) I think blocking is all about timing. You could be like 6'4 but if you have no technique, then it won't work. Try watching this : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HW5QhCSKTsw. It's all about practice and waiting the right time to block it. You won't block every shot, but if you practice you could get a few swats.
2) I know what you mean about not having enough energy and not jumping the highest. The best way to get the rebound over a shorter guy is to box out, or what I do, if I know I'm in a bad position to get the ball but im taller, I just tap the rebound to a teammate instead of trying to get it myself.
