Samsung Galaxy S4, overheating and battery drain?

I just got my phone and haven't had a problem until today. I made sure to use a task manager to end task as well as keep the screen brightness down and I took off my live wallpaper. Today, I was downloading a game and I noticed it took a lot longer than normal. Soon after the back started to heat and stayed hot. My battery said 88% then less than an hour later it said 24%. I was shocked. Has this happened to anyone else? Is there something I can do to correct it? I've already had to shut it off because I don't have my charger so it will be off until I can get home. Thanks.

Yes this has happened to me before, I tried a whole array of things and eventually it worked!

Here are some tips to try, some will work whereas others will do nothing:-

    -Try updating your software.

-Remove any apps, especially games that use lots of memory

-Back up your device, wipe all the data and then re-install it.

-Charge it full, as much as possible overnight then use it

-Connect it to your computer and fiddle around with the device files and software.

-Restart the device several times, removing the sim card and micro SD.

If all this doesn't work.. Try getting a new battery because it might be faulty.

Source(s): My phone had this problem, however it was not a Samsung phone. More or less the same issue though. Hope you get this fixed, because 80 percent down to 20 will not be convenient for your day to day work and social life.

It might happened when you are downloading the game via 3G, so it might drain your phone battery too fast, because downloading consume battery both by network and through mobile data. So you need not worry and keep on downloading a games as much as you want. I also using the samsung, so there is no issue till date.

Battery drain could be using a number of issues, first you examine the apps as you probably did by making use of final apps from the activity supervisor. Then examine the toggles (GPS, WIFI, BT, cellular documents, Hotspot) and turn off people who you do no longer %. Then examine in case you have solid cellular sign interior your place, unfavorable sign ends up in greater battery use. examine your show brightness and timeout settings. Do a reboot if it would not artwork.
