Do you think John Mayer's an underrated guitarist?

I would some what agree he is given less credit then he perceives to have.

but when I think of guitar players i'm fascinated by, he does not come to mind, although that's because i'm just not a fan. but I cant deny his passion for playing.

at first glance when I have listened to him, his guitar playing wasn't the focus but he is a decent song writer I find. but when it comes to hints of pop its the formulaic song writing that dulls and bores the hell out of me with catchy choruses and hooks.

not all his songs are like that though, but the main reason why I would give him more credit is his ability to play live and well.

I remember catching a concert of him on TV and I was pretty impressed how he got down with the music. hes got some soul to his style of play. just isn't my particular cup of tea though.

Underrated Guitarists

He is an acoustic master! He throws out amazing rifts that are so tasteful. He is so underrated! Great guitarist. Listen to John play Neon live and tell me he sucks.

No. Overrated.His music is ok. But I am a guitarist and I can tell you,

he is average. His playing doesn't require a lot of talent or skill.

But that's fine. Most people are entertained by average, especially

music and movies.
